Gateway CDC’s Nick Francis to Leave Organization

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

May 22, 2008 -  (North Brentwood, Brentwood, Mount Rainier, MD) 

After more than ten years of service, first as a volunteer and board member, then as the organization’s first executive director, Nick Francis is departing Gateway Community Development Corporation on July 31, 2008.  

During Francis’ tenure, Gateway CDC led a broad-based coalition of partners to organize the creation of the Gateway Arts District, which includes four Maryland municipalities – Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville.

“Nick’s passion for community development and his strategic thinking and deep commitment has been a guiding force in the success of Gateway CDC,” said Pamela Strother, President.  “He will be sorely missed.”

Tour Arts District Studios on Saturday, May 17th!
April 21, 2008 - Gateway Arts District, Prince George’s County, MD

Over 50 artists throughout the municipalities of Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville will open their studios to the public on Saturday, May 17th from 12 Noon to 5 PM.  Studios are concentrated along a 2.1-mile stretch of the Route 1/Baltimore Avenue/Rhode Island Avenue corridor.

The date will be shared with the annual Mount Rainier Day Festival and Parade, a full day of family fun, food, craft vending and live performances held from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm in Mount Rainier, MD, at 34th and Rhode Island Avenue.
